Third Grade Angels by Jerry Spinelli

George “Suds” Morton has heard the chant “First grade babies! Second grade cats! Third grade angels! Fourth Grade rats!”  He didn’t  like being a baby or a cat, but he’s been waiting to be a third grade angel ever since he was in kindergarten.  When he finally arrives in third grade Mrs. Simms, his new third grade teacher,  announces that she will have a competition to see who would be the first kid in class to be awarded a halo.  All they have to do is be the best behaved kid in her class.  This story teaches a life lesson about good character.
