Simon and Molly plus Hester is a great book to read to school age children to teach them about friendship and solving disputes. This story begins by introducing two friends, Simon and Molly. Simon and Molly are best friends and do all sorts of fun things together. A new girl moves in and becomes their friend. Molly seems to love playing with Hester, the new girl, and it makes Simon feel jealous. He starts feeling that Molly likes Hester better than him. At the end of the story, Simon realizes that they can all be best friends and do great things together.
My students loved this book because we were able to discuss what kind of ways we can resolve disputes with our friends. They talked about times when they had fought with one of their friends and how they got over it and continued their friendship.
