Holes by Louis Sachar

The story begins with Stanley Yelnats, a kid who is under a  suppose curse. A curse that has since followed his family.  Now Stanley had a choice of jail time or go to an all  boys’ detention center, Camp Green Lake, where they are spending their days, digging holes to “build characters.  Stanley develops determination and perseverance and new found friendships with the other campers.    Holes is  a wonderful story that my students and I  enjoyed.  I would recommend this book to other teachers.

The Tale of Despereaux By Kate DiCamillo

I read this book as a read aloud in my 3rd grade classroom. The main character is Despereaux, a mouse is born with a particular appearance, which make him different from his parents and his siblings. “The Relatives Came” by Cynthia Rylant

This book is about a family who live in Virginia and traveled along  to visit their relatives. The author describes the happiness of the family to be reunited and share memories, food, and time together. He also describes the feelings the relatives have at the end of the story, and I loved it! My students liked the book because they were able to personally relate to it. I like the story because I noticed enthusiasm, participation and connection from my students. The story provides a meaningful message and a relax and nice content.

Flat Stanley Show and Tell by Jeff Brown

Stanley Lambchop is flattened when his bulletin board falls off the wall and onto him. Being flat is not so bad because it allows Stanley to do things that a regular-sized person cannot do.
